Lady Falcon by Sherry Hurwitz

I see you

Lady Falcon

The flash of your brown and white wings

spread to fill my windshield.

You have calculated my speed around this curve and are inches from my wonder and fear,

while you land, feet away, grasping a breakfast

your talons have crushed.

Its spark has gone in the instant you turn to glare at me

in triumph and in warning.
