Jordan by Jacquelyn Torres

Here is an attempt to capture the vibrant nature of Jordan, a location known for its religious significance and the notable Petra sight. These photographs provide insight into a study abroad experience I partook in, which transformed my life and challenged assumptions I had about the region before traveling there. These photographs only tell half of the story because I also witnessed this country’s struggles with refugee human rights violations, its political tensions over Palestine, and the drought that has brought much distress. As a first-generation college student and daughter of immigrants, this experience introduced me to the importance of study abroad, which is why I will be working on expanding its accessibility to other minority students at Dominican through ASDU. The locations pictured are the Church of St. John the Baptist, Petra, Jerash, and Al Balad, Jordan
