Growing Apart by Giana Usac

Eight years later and still not a word

I think about how fun and easy it was to be a kid

but the tables have turned.

I miss having you as my best friend

So many care-free moments

endless laughter

Did not think it would ever end

Having monkey bar races during recess or lunch

Watching Disney or Nickelodeon shows a bunch

Playing with our American girl dolls

like it was nobody’s business

Pushing away homework

like it doesn’t exist

But time goes by and life moves on

We finished middle school and high school a new chapter has begun

We are in our twenties and almost done with college

It is almost like our friendship has been demolished

Growing apart happens
